## What is CallUltra?

CallUltra is a workspace for teams that want AI voice agents to handle inbound and outbound phone conversations. Start with a clear calling goal, configure the agent's role, opening message, and instructions, then connect it to a real phone workflow. Each call leaves a record you can review before you expand to more contacts.

During a live call, the agent listens and responds in the same conversation. It can capture details, record outcomes, search approved knowledge, schedule a callback, or hand a caller to a person. Teams can test a voice in the browser, run a monitored Quick Call to check the actual phone audio, and use transcripts and recordings to improve the agent. A campaign then applies that tested conversation to a lead list with schedules and pacing controls.

## AI voice workflows

- [Outbound calling](https://docs.callultra.com/documentation/campaigns): Reach a lead list with a tested agent, verified caller ID, calling hours, and pacing controls. Review the first calls before increasing volume.
- [Inbound handling](https://docs.callultra.com/documentation/agents): Route incoming calls to an agent prepared for support, intake, or appointment requests. Give it clear answers and a path to a person when needed.
- [AI generated scripts](https://docs.callultra.com/documentation/script-generation): Describe the calling goal and generate a first draft. Review the wording, add your business facts, and test the finished conversation in the builder.
- [Call insights](https://docs.callultra.com/documentation/analytics): Review summaries, transcripts, recordings, and outcomes together. Use account analytics to see what callers say and where the workflow needs work.

## AI during a live call

CallUltra uses Google Gemini Live for real-time voice conversations. The model receives caller audio and streams spoken responses back into the call while producing conversation transcripts.

Agent instructions, caller context, and available built-in actions guide each response. When a knowledge search or connected action is needed, the agent can request it during the conversation and use the result as context.

## Make your first test call

1. **Create an agent** — Set the agent's name, direction, opening message, and call instructions.
2. **Choose voice settings** — Select a voice and language, then save the agent.
3. **Run a browser test** — Use the voice playground to check the conversation and prompt.
4. **Place a Quick Call** — Call a handset you control and confirm the complete greeting is audible.
5. **Review the call** — Open the transcript and recording, then adjust the agent before scaling.

## Before launching a campaign

> **Test the phone path:** The browser playground checks the agent experience. Quick Call also checks the carrier connection, caller ID, and audio delivery to a handset.

Only scale a campaign after a controlled handset test confirms that the full greeting and caller reply are audible. If the call is silent, use the [troubleshooting guide](https://docs.callultra.com/documentation/call-troubleshooting) and keep the call ID for support.
